Scottish Recipe of the Month - 16th May 2013

Scottish Recipe of the Month Quick Cranachan Pudding
If you're really pushed for time then this recipe from Orkney saves a lot of the toasting and is simple.  You do need to think ahead though, for overnight soaking of the oats.

You will need

  • 2 tablespoons medium oatmeal
  • 2 tablespoons runny honey
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange or apple juice
  • 300 ml double or whipping cream, or thick yoghurt
  • 110 g raspberries, or mixed fruit, eg banana, stewed apple, plus a few raspberries
The day before;  soak the oatmeal in the honey and fruit juice in a covered dish.

Whip the cream until stiff and fold in your chosen  fruit to the oats.  Chill in the fridge for a short while, or serve semi-frozen

TV3 visits The Scottish Shop - World Famous in Dunedin - 9th May 2013

TV3 visits The Scottish Shop - World Famous in Dunedin It was a nervous time for Scottish Shop staff and patrons when the television cameras came to visit.  Steve Wrigley & Ben Hurley filmed part of their World Famous Tour in the shop.  Set to be screened on TV3 on 10th May at 9.30pm.  The programme is titled World Famous in Dunedin.

There was a cruise ship visiting Dunedin on that day and I noticed some customers really enjoying the antics and laughter and some took one look at the cameras and made a hasty exit

Dunedin whisky on top of the world - 6th Sep 2012

Dunedin whisky on top of the world Two brands of whisky made in Dunedin have been named the "world's best" at the Mid-West Whisky Olympics in Michigan.

Despite competing against some of the best known Scottish, Irish and US brands, the 10 year-old Dunedin DoubleWood blended whisky and the 21 year-old South Island Single Malt whisky, both manufactured at the now defunct Willowbank distillery, were named the world's best blended and single malt whisky, respectively.
